Not a Choice

People believe mental illness is a choice.

They say

It’s just a phase.

Stop

being so dramatic.

The pills

Can heal.

But they don’t know

The pain

Of not seeing Color

anymore.

At first,

There’s blurriness.

As time passes

Your eyes see

Less and,

less color

The world is,

black and white.

I am lost and,

afraid

Of myself.

I can’t

dream in color.

I am

Drowning

In Black and White.

I have depression

And,

social anxiety.

But they will say

It’s just a phase.

Stop,

Being so dramatic.

Then,

When will

Color,

Return?
